Poland elected a non-permanent member of the UN Security Council


Today during the secret ballot United Nations General Assembly elected Poland to join the UN Security Council as a non-permanent member. 190 countries voted in favor, two states abstained. No country voted against Poland’s candidacy.  Polish Prime Minister Beata Szydło summarized the election as a great success of Polish diplomacy. Poland will replace Ukraine in the UN Security Council. The two-year term starts at the beginning of 2018.
